Salofa's Strep A blue line is a rapid chromatographic immunoassay test for the qualitative detection of streptococcus A in throat swab samples. The test is intended to aid in the diagnosis of group A streptococcal infection.

In this test, an antibody specific to the StrepA carbohydrate antigen is placed in the test region of the test stick where the extracted throat swab sample reacts with the particulate-coated StrepA antibody. The mixture travels up the membrane and reacts with the StrepA antibody on the membrane to generate a coloured line in the test area. The appearance of this coloured line in the test area indicates a positive result, while its absence indicates a negative result.
